Billy Ray Hughes, 86, of High Point, passed away April 18, 2017.  He was the son of Mary and Frank Hughes, born September 7, 1930, in Trinity, NC.  Billy enjoyed his life playing baseball for the Cardinal Farm Team and eventually going to work at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI, where he attained the position of Superintendent. He was a Mason for 60 years, a Shriner, and belonged to the Lexington-Memorial Lodge #473 for 10 years.

He was married twice to Doris Lee Briggs and Maureen Hughes, who both survive him.  He had seven children with Doris: Rebecca, Douglas (Joy), Deborah (Bernie), Frank (Jodi), Mark (Meg), who all survive him, and Philip and Craig, who preceded him in death.  Also surviving are his adopted daughter, Tina; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Hannah), Caleb, Bailee, Samantha, Stephanie, Nicholas and Maggie; four step grandchildren, Brandi (Forrest), Hannah, Staci (Brian) and Amanda; and a great grandson, Scott Michael Allen who is serving his country in the Marine Corps; sister, Dreama Curtis; and nephew, Richard Kennedy.

Billy stated his life was full, and he had done everything he wanted to do.  May God protect and keep him until the day of the Resurrection.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.
