Boyd Wingate Mitchell, Sr., 86, of Archdale passed away Wednesday, June 13, at the Hospice Home of High Point. He was born in Tarboro, N.C. to John and Callie Mitchell.
He attended school in Tarboro before moving to Greensboro where he specialized in glass installation, retiring from PPG Industries. He was a member of Hayworth Wesleyan Church in High Point and was an avid gardener, notorious for his “collard patch”.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Betty Burgess Mitchell, daughter Karen Laughter, and son Keith F. Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Lewis Mitchell, son Mitch (Kathy Jo) Mitchell of Greensboro, Daughter, Chryl (Mike) Twilley of Lexington, stepchildren Joe (Ariana) Lewis of High Point,
David (Ginger) Lewis of Archdale, Dawn (Doug) Frank of High Point, Jonathan (Kathy) Lewis, and Phillip (Diana) Lewis all of High Point, 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A service of celebration will be held at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 1:00pm conducted by Pastor Brian Matherlee. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro.
The family will receive friends at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point from 11:30 until 12:45 pm prior to the service.
The family suggests that any memorials be made to Hospice Home of High Point, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or Hayworth Wesleyan Church, 1698 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
