Mr. Brian Kent Barnes, 57, resident of Winston-Salem, died September 10, 2023, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born December 31, 1965, in Quincy, Illinois, a son to Frank Leroy and Joann Fible Barnes. Brian graduated from Farmington High School in Missouri and later attended Indiana St. University where he was a founding father of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. After graduation, he moved to North Carolina and began a 30-year career with WXII Channel 12 as their news director. He also was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Greensboro. In his leisure time, Brian loved music and sports. He played guitar and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues.
Surviving is his mother, Joann Fible Barnes of High Point; his brother, Brad Barnes and wife Charla of Farmington, Missouri; one niece and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Leroy Barnes, and his sister, Kimberly Barnes Austin.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Greensboro. Inurnment will follow the service in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the organization of your choice.
