Allen Dickens
THOMASVILLE – Carl Allen Dickens, 68, died Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Hickle Hospice House in Lexington following a courage battle with cancer from Agent Orange.
He was born March 4, 1951, in Salisbury and was the son of the late Clyde Eugene Dickens, Sr. and Helen Hedgecock Dickens. He retired from Triad Fabco in High Point and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Carraway Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher and enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Dickens.
Allen is survived by his wife, Judy Dickens, whom he married on May 16, 2008; son, Michael Dickens (Emily) of Calabash; daughters, Melissa Austin (John) and Gerry Cordova (Rick), both of Thomasville, and Louanne Tucker (Stephen) of Denton; three sisters, Doris Boles of Thomasville, Carrie Bumhaur of Archdale, and Wanda Alexander of Lexington; two brothers, Clyde Dickens, Jr. (Carolyn) of Lexington and Charles Dickens (Kay) of Thomasville; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other assorted adopted children and grandchildren whom he loved.
Funeral service celebrating Allen’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2019, at Carraway Baptist Church with Pastor Fredie Meadows and Pastor Sam Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
