Mr. W. Carl Cook Jr., 93, resident of High Point, died July 13, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living on Hartley Dr. in High Point.
Mr. Cook was born April 10, 1924 in Stokes County, a son to the late Walter Carl Cook Sr. and Eva Rogers Cook. He was a U.S. Army-Air Corps veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. A resident of this area most of his life, he retired from Drexel Heritage after 47 years of service, attended Northwood United Methodist Church, and most recently Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church. In 1946 he married the former Madge Griffin who preceded him in death in 2015. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Cook and four sisters.
Surviving are three children, Ricky Cook and wife Sandra of High Point, Brenda Mohl and husband Laverne of High Point and Todd Cook and wife Barbara of Rock Hill, SC; a brother, Roger Cook and wife Mildred of Trinity; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church with Rev. Matt Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Cook will remain at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point until taken to the church Saturday. Interment with military honors will be held 10:00 a.m. Sunday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
