Carlos Torres Jr.

Mr. Carlos Torres Jr., 39, resident of California, went to be with his Lord whom he loved on October 13, 2019 in Trinity, NC.

Carlos was born September 18, 1980 in Santa Clara, CA, a son to Carlos Torres Sr. and Dalena Huffman.  He grew up in North Carolina and attended High Point University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in International Business.  His passion for wrestling was a huge part of his life as he was a coach and mentor to many athletes, not only in this area, but also across the country.  His love for the sport was highlighted when one of his mentees advanced to the olympic trianing center in Colorado.  As an avid athlete, he loved other sports as well and also yoga and boxing.  He’ll be remembered most however, by his love for family and his free spirit.

Surviving are his two daughters, Selena and Annabelle Torres both of Maryland; his two mothers, Dalena Brandon and husband Mark of Advance and Jesse Gill and husband Rodney of Trinity; his father, Carlos Torres Sr. of California; his sister, Jackie Blue of Advance; grandmother, Lena Dale Huffman; grandparents, Leonard and Mary Harrison; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and two mentees who were like his sons, Jesse Doyle and Skyler Hicks, along with the numerous kids he helped throughout the years.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting with Pastor Dave Mercadante and Pastor Randy Quate officiating.  Interment will follow in the meeting cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
