Carolyn Armentrout Bass passed away on April 20, 2021 at Carolina Reserve of Durham. She was born in High Point on May 8, 1934, the daughter of the late Lauck and Winnie Dantzler Armentrout. She was a lifelong resident of High Point until 2017, when she moved to Durham to be closer to family.
Carolyn was married for 63 years to the love of her life, Bill Bass. She was a lifelong church choir member, and over the years she attended Ward Street Methodist, Oak View Methodist, and most recently Lebanon Methodist Church. She was an accomplished pianist and loved music and was always very active in her church community. She retired from Duke Energy after 18 years of service, and prior to that she worked at Globe Furniture Company and Melrose Hosiery. Carolyn loved her family more than anything in the world, especially her 2 grandchildren, Caroline and Aidan. She enjoyed travel, especially summer trips to Myrtle Beach and occasionally cruising with family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Bill, and sister Betty Coggin.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter Debbie Everleigh (husband, Mike) of Durham; son Kenn Bass of Salisbury, and grandchildren Caroline Everleigh and Aidan Bass, as well as her sister Ann Teague.
The family would like to thank the staff at Carolina Reserve of Durham, Amedisys Hospice Team, Doctors Making Housecalls, and Bayada Home Health Care for their wonderful care and compassion.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm on Sunday April 25, 2021 at Cumby Family Funeral Service at Eastchester Drive in High Point. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Debra Swing officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
