ARCHDALE – Carolyn Annette Dawson Motley, 78, died Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at her residence.
She was born May 26, 1943 in Archdale and was the daughter of the late Elmer Austin and Pearl Cranford Dawson. She worked many years as manager of Bennings Credit Union in Lexington and later retired from Allegacy Credit Union in Winston-Salem. She was a faithful member of Garrell Street Baptist Church. Carolyn’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed crafts, fishing, working in her flower garden and going to the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Dawson.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Howard Clifford Motley, whom she married on December 24, 1961; children, Teresa Brock (John) and Scott Motley (Allison), both of Archdale; five grandchildren, Tyler Motley (Paige) of Asheboro, Jacob Motley (Hannah) and Brett Fields, both of Trinity, Cameron Keith (Noah) of Hillsville and Hillary Ross (Anthony) of Randleman; six great-grandchildren, Carson Harvey, Adalyn Keith, Jackson Motley, Brayden Motley, Briggs Motley and Finn Ross; and sister, Trudy Davis (Brantley) of Greensboro.
Funeral service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Garrell Street Baptist Church with Pastor Rodney Otwell officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 PM Sunday at the church prior to the service.
