ARCHDALE – Carolyn “Carol” Louise Hughes Safriet, 73, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at her residence.
She was born December 7, 1948, in Horry County, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Edward Bethea and Kathleen Capps Hughes. She was owner and operator of Hillsville Family Restaurant for over twenty-five years. Carol was a loving, caring and good-hearted person who placed others before herself. While operating her restaurant, she was active in the community by providing meals to those who were shut-in. She worked for Quality Catering in High Point as a catering truck driver for over twenty years prior to owning her restaurant. She genuinely loved people, and was a loving wife and mother. Carol loved the beach and spending time with family. She will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Tula Locklear, Lila Watson, Wilma Sellars, Margaret Garland; and four brothers, Bennie Hughes, E.B. Hughes, Pete Hughes and Man Hughes.
Carol is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Kenneth Darrell Safriet; four stepsons, Kenneth Gregory Safriet and Rodney Aaron Isom, both of Myrtle Beach, Roger Dale Safriet (Johanna) of Archdale, and Scott Eugene Safriet of Lexington; eight step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Melva Jean Spivey (Jay Spencer) of Sophia, Elva Marilyn Skipper (Elton) of Archdale and Sharon Diane Gasque of Asheboro; two brothers, Michael Roy Hughes (Mary) of Thomasville and Jimmy Hughes of Sophia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service celebrating Carol’s life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 6, 2022, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with Pastor Jamie Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the funeral home.
