Mr. Carroll Penn Welborn, 86, resident of Kernersville, died November 10, 2018 at High Point Medical Center.
Mr. Welborn was born June 22, 1932 in Forsyth County, a son to Charles M. and Lillie Moore Welborn. A resident of this area all his life, he was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, worked at Anvil Brand Corporation and later retired from B/E Aerospace Incorporated. Carroll was also an ordained minister, having graduated from Fruitland Bible College in Hendersonville. On September 12, 1949 he married the former Betty Lemons who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by his son, Carroll Penn Welborn Jr. in 1965 and brothers, Dale Wall Welborn and Glenn Moore Welborn.
Also surviving is his son, Ray Welborn and wife Joni of Varina, VA; his daughter, Cathy Brown and husband Bill of Clayton; five grandchildren, Micah Welborn and wife Megan, Whitney Canty and husband Josh, Jordan Welborn, Cora Brown and Jessica Brown; and five great grandchildren, Morgan, Lucy, Clayton, Aubrey and Judah.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Abbott’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in High Point. Members of the Hillcrest Prayer Warriors are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
