July 19, 1935 ~ October 8, 2020 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

Jamestown—Mr. Charles Monroe Douthit 85, went home to his Lord and Savior Thursday Morning October 08, 2020 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born July 19, 1935 in Macon County, NC to the late John and Mary Morgan Douthit. He retired as Spinning Room Supervisor from Oakdale Cotton Mills. Charles was a member of Bales Wesleyan Church.

He was truly a gift from God and a living angel here on earth. He was loving and kind with a gentle spirit. He had a special glow about him that made people he really did not know say; what a sweet man he was. His term of endearment for his daughter, sister and granddaughters and nieces was to call us his “Gals” and we called ourselves “Charlie’s Angels”. He was very selfless, putting everyone before himself and would give his last dime out of his pocket if asked.

In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in death by his wife Imogene Condrey Douthit in 2002, one son Garrett Douthit, three sisters: Lola Mae Roland, Bonnie McMahan and Margie King, one brother Ray Douthit.

Charles is survived by one daughter Pam Edwards and husband Joey of Kernersville; one son Chris Douthit and wife Heather of Jamestown; one sister Linda Wilson and husband Steve of Oak Island; one brother Cecil Douthit and wife Norma of Nantahala; six grandchildren; Ashley Dew, Amber Douthit, John Edwards, Courtney Edwards, Jasmine Douthit and Zane Douthit; five great grandchildren; Makenzie Dew, Mayce Dew, Izzy Willard, Layla and River Creech.

A graveside Service will be conducted 11:00 AM Sunday October 11, 2020 at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Darrell Wilson officiating.

The family requests that memorials be made to Amedisys Hospice, 2975 Crouse Lane, Burlington, NC 27215.
