ARCHDALE-Charles Hubbard McDowell, 95, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
He was born on August 9, 1922 in Randolph County, to the late Robert and Rachel Allred McDowell. A lifetime resident of this area, he worked for Schoonbeck Furniture and later retiring from Clarendon Industries. A former member of First Wesleyan Church in High Point, he served as choir director, board member and Sunday school teacher. He currently was a member of Unity Wesleyan Church and the Senior Adult group. Charles enjoyed woodworking and quilting and showed his work at the Dixie Classic Fair. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his wife of 66 plus years, Hazel Peace McDowell, and a grandson, Bryan Nance.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Judy Nance and her husband, Ken, Bobby McDowell and his wife, Gloria; 5 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 17, from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm, followed by a service to celebrate Charles’ life at 2 pm at Unity Wesleyan Church, 5289 Hopewell Church Road, Trinity, NC 27370.
Memorials in Charles’ memory may be given to Unity Wesleyan Church.
