TRINITY-Charles Branson Lanier, 74, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020.

He was born on June 19, 1945 in Concord, NC, son of the late Buren and Katherine Murph Lanier. A resident of this area most of his life, he served in Vietnam with the US Navy, aboard the USS Iwo Jima. He retired from Old Dominion Freight Lines as Director of Industrial Engineering. Charles was an avid outdoorsmen; whether he was spending time working in his yard, playing golf, or going to the beach. He especially enjoyed beach music and shagging. His true love and passion was spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, preceding his in death were his brother, James Lanier, his sister, Ann Goodman, his brother in law, George Goodman and his nephew, Patrick Goodman.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 27 plus years, Frances Wilson Lanier; his sons, Scott Walser and his wife, Cheryl and Jim Levy; his grandchildren, Megan Thore and husband Michael, Aidan Walser and his girlfriend Malory Beane, Zeb Walser and his wife Taylor, and Lexi Bodford and her fiancé Derek Chavis; his great grandchildren, Alexander, Max, and Savannah Thore; his niece, Sharon Hatley and her husband, Mark, and their sons Matthew and Logan.

A service to celebrate Charles’ life will be private.
