Charles "Chuck" Matthew Kauth

Mr. Charles “Chuck” Matthew Kauth, 84, resident of High Point, died August 2, 2019 at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.

Mr. Kauth was born April 16, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, a son to the late Rudolph A. and Merle Swinton Kauth.  He attended MacKenzie High School where he graduated in 1952.  Later, he attended Central Michigan University and afterwards, Harvard, where he received his MBA.  Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, holding the rank of Captain and stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia and Junction City, Kansas.  In 1999, he retired as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Hatteras Yacht Company after 25 years of service.  After moving to the North Carolina mountains and Florida coast, he returned to this area almost two years ago.

In 1955, he married the former Judith Burns who survives of High Point.  Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy Lynn Kauth of High Point and Kimberly Kauth Chaney and husband Alan of Winston-Salem; a son, Jeffrey Kauth and wife Angela of Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Robert Rudolph Kauth of Pompano Beach, Florida; a brother-in-law, James Leslie Burns of Jamestown; a sister-in-law, Clarice Burns; a niece, Jamie Johnson; two nephews, Russell and Jeffrey Burns; and five grandchildren, Adam, Carter, Madison, Casey and Jenny.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. Jeffrey Burns officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, North Carolina 27262.
