HIGH POINT- Claire Harrison Ward, 95, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 27, 2020.
She was born on November 20, 1924 in Surry County, a daughter of the late Claude T. and Jennie Chandler Harrison. A resident of High Point most of her life, she worked in the Apparel Industry and she was the oldest active member of Highland Baptist Church. Claire enjoyed going to gospel singings at Hardees in Archdale, and Thomasville, exercising at the YWCA, and collecting ceramic angels. She loved her church, her family and her friends, and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, R.C. Ward; her sons, Ralph Ward, Harrel Ward and Richard Ward; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, Linda Ward Campbell and her husband, David; her sister, Tee Vaughan, 6 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Claire’s life will be held on Friday morning, July 31, at 11 o’clock, at Highland Baptist Church, with Reverend Samuel Eaton officiating. The committal service will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Friday morning, from 9:45 until 10:45, at the church.
