Claire Cassell Harmon of High Point died on July 11, 2018, following years of various illnesses. Her calm strength through these challenges demonstrated what those who love her recognize as the core of her loving faith in God and humanity.
She was born on March 12, 1949, in Knoxville, TN, the first child of Stephen Sidney (Steve) and Elizabeth Hollinshead (Beth or Libba) Cassell. Following a proud family tradition, she attended Virginia Tech, graduating in 1971 with a degree in Business Administration. Her work career included jobs in various banks, several years with the FDIC, and many years at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. She loved the mountains and deserts of New Mexico, but retired in 2013 to the lower altitude of North Carolina due to health reasons.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in High Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Aaron Harmon, her daughter-in-law/love, Jacklyn Harmon, and their children Aubrey, Aaron, and Derek. The loving closeness of this family surrounded and sustained Claire in her last few years. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth (Eli) and Mack Coulter of Maryville, TN, and Stephany and Al Bouchier of Pagosa Springs, CO, and also by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends far and wide.
