Dallas Eugene Chapman

March 6, 1926 ~ April 7, 2021 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Dallas E. Chapman (age 95), of 1568 Skeet Club Road, Brookdale High Point North went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on April 7th.

Mr. Chapman was born March 6, 1926 in High Point to Thomas W. & Silla Priddy Chapman.  Upon graduation from High Point Central High School in 1943, he joined the United States Navy where he served as Seaman 1st Class on the USS Dutchess APA-98 in WWII Pacific Theater from June 3, 1944 to May 19, 1946.  Following discharge from the Navy, Mr. Chapman went to work for the United States Postal Service where he served as a Letter Carrier for 32 years.  He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and Covenant Church United Methodist since 1947, having served as a part-time leader for the Whitlock Sunday School Class.  Mr. Chapman served as a greeter during blood drives for the American Red Cross and was happy to serve when needed for Open Door Ministries of High Point.

On June 21, 1946, he married the love of his life Joyce Ferguson Chapman, who preceded him in death on April 20, 2005.  Also preceding him were his parents Thomas W. and Silla Priddy Chapman; sister, Sudie Peele and husband Clarence; brothers, Chester Chapman and wife Louise, Rufus "Bud" Chapman and wife Nell, Robert Chapman and wife Alease, Boyd Chapman and wife Billie; sister Sarah Elizabeth “Lib” Peace; nephew Roger Dale Chapman, and nieces Nancy Westmoreland, Donna Chapman Flowers and Robin Chapman Daniels.

Surviving are brother-in-law, Joe Peace of Birmingham, AL; nephews, Steve Peace and wife Darla (children: Kyle and Kimberly) of Trussville, AL; Tom Peace and wife Cherie of Nashville, TN; Tom Chapman and wife Tara (children: Haleigh and Jordan) of Evergreen, Co; Mark Chapman and wife Deborah of Cary, NC; (son: Brian and wife Ainsley (daughter: Ellie) and son: Scott); Terry Chapman of Mt. Airy, NC; niece, Lori Peace of Trussville, AL; great niece, Debra Westmoreland Snipes of Kannapolis, NC; great nephew, Cody Daniels of Thomasville, NC.  Also surviving is his wife Joyce’s brother, Tom Atkinson and wife Sharron of Raleigh, NC; nephew Seth Atkinson and wife Brittany (children: Dakota and Myles) of Summerville, SC; niece, Dara Davis and husband Eric (children: Dani and John) of Garner, NC and many other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on May 1 in the Outdoor Amphitheater at Covenant Church United Methodist with visitation inside the church starting at 12 noon, Pastor Darren Alexander officiating.  Committal will follow at the Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
