David Glenn Kidd

TRINITY – It is with great sadness that the family of David Glenn Kidd announces his passing after a brief illness on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Hospice Home of High Point.

David’s story starts on November 16, 1949. He was the second child born to the late Henry and Lorine Kidd.  He grew up in Archdale and at the young age of 13, he began working at Hodge Motor Company.  David graduated from Trinity High School and Davidson Community College with a degree in Auto Mechanics. For most of his adult life, he operated Kidd Automotive and was a trusted mechanic and friend to all that knew him. Through the years, he touched many lives with his words and deeds.  There was very little that David Kidd could not figure out.  After his retirement, he joined Cook-Out and helped in many ways.

David loved the Lord and lived his entire life as the perfect example for his family.  He was a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church where he was part of the choir and praise group.  In his spare time, he loved to garden, do yard work and pick up his grandchildren.  David loved his family and earned the title of Best PePaw ever! His family will miss him but in Jesus Christ we know we will one day meet again.

David will be missed and always cherished.  He was the most loved by his best friend and wife of 49 years, Patricia Summey Kidd; and his children, David Kidd and wife, Amy, and Abby Reaves and husband, Jeremy.  He will fondly be remembered by his five grandchildren, Lilly, Glenn, Grace, Max and Holden; his sister, Faye Hodge; and his brother, Dan Kidd and wife, Melissa.

Funeral service celebrating David’s life will be held at 11:00 Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Schulze officiating.  Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
