Tribute

Mr. David Mark Meekins, went to be with his Lord on March 27th, 2023 after a long battle with deteriorating health and a recent battle with cancer. He was 67.

Mr. Meekins was born on January 4th, 1956 in Jacksonville, North Carolina to Madison Monroe “MM” and Dorothy Ann Mathews Meekins. He was the eldest of four children. Mark grew up in Jacksonville, North Carolina and earned an associate degree from Coastal Carolina Community College. He also attended UNCG, pursuing a degree in technical theatre. He spent one summer acting and serving as technical lead at the Liberty Cart Theater in Kenansville, North Carolina. His greatest career accomplishment was the establishment of National Chevelle Owners Association (NCOA), of which he was president for many years. He had a passion for muscle cars from the 1960’s and 1970’s and was known nationally for his knowledge of Chevelles and El Caminos. He loved sharing his knowledge of these cars, and was often sought out by enthusiasts and hobbyists who wanted to learn and know what he knew about these cars. Mark had an infectious sense of humor and was always pulling a prank of some kind. His penchant for corny jokes and witty wordplay will be missed.

He was married to Kay Hinkle Meekins of High Point, with whom he had three children, Mason Grey Meekins and wife Kimberly Price of Augusta, Georgia; Spencer Grey Meekins of High Point; Bailey Elizabeth Meekins Allen and husband, Randy Allen of Honolulu, Hawaii; three grandchildren, Skylar Price of Augusta and Bella and Noah Allen, both of Honolulu; his mother, Dot Meekins of Greensboro; siblings, Wayne Meekins and wife, Debbie of Whitesville; Brenda Meekins Chaney and her husband, Dewayne of Greensboro and Hayes Meekins and his wife, Gina, also of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his father.
