RAMSEUR-Derryl Jo Cavin, 85, formerly of High Point, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

He was born on August 16, 1935 in High Point, a son of the late Joe and Pauline Browning Cavin, and had been a resident of High Point most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1954 until 1958, aboard the Aircraft Carrier, the USS Bennington, (CVA-20), as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. After active duty service, he continued to serve in the Navy Reserves from 1958 until 1962. He retired from Gilbarco, after 35 years of service, and had formerly owned, along with his brothers, 3 way Enterprises in Archdale. He was of the Baptist faith. Derryl enjoyed fishing, watching detective shows and westerns, and spending time with his family. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and uncle and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his wife of 62 years, Nancy H. Cavin and his older brother, Donald Cavin.

He is survived by his children, Johnnie Belinda Anderson and her husband, Donnie, of Ramseur, Joey Cavin and his wife, Geneva, of Linwood, and Flora Winkles and her husband, Thomas, of Liberty; his sister, Brenda Gail Foster; his brother, Michael Lee Cavin and his wife, Diane. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Mary Joe, Joseph, Timothy, Matthew, Samantha and Chris; eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Derryl’s life will be held on Friday afternoon, June 4, at 2 p.m., from the graveside, in Holly Hill Memorial Park, Thomasville, with Pastor Elton Wilborne officiating, Military Honors will be accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
