ARCHDALE – Donald “Don” Loyd Foster, 86, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Woodland Hills Center in Asheboro.
He was born May 22, 1933, in Jacksonville, Florida, and was the son of the late Thomas D. and Vera Maude Barker Foster. Don was a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and had worked in management with Hatteras Yachts and Concept Plastics. Following his retirement, he worked at Piedmont-Triad International Airport shuttling cars which he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved basketball and football and was an avid Carolina Tarheel and Carolina Panthers fan. Don also enjoyed shag dancing.
Donald is survived by his wife, Gertrude Edwards Foster, whom he married on January 3, 1954; two sons, Terry Foster (Cindy) and Mike Foster (Pamela), both of High Point; three grandchildren, Michael Ryan Foster, Michael Hayden Foster and Hannah Denise Foster; sister, Delores Harrelson of Ruffin, NC; and brother, Douglas Foster of Trinity.
Private graveside service celebrating Donald’s life will be held at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Bobby Loving officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Due the current COVID-19 pandemic, gathering numbers are limited to 50 people with proper social distancing.
