Mr. Donald “Don” William Koenig, 82, resident of Thomasville, died August 31, 2019 at Hospice Home at High Point.
Mr. Koenig was born November 24, 1936 in Jamaica, New York, a son to the late Bernard and Wilhelmina Scheiner Koenig. He was a carpenter by trade, having learned the craft at an early age and continuing his whole life. In 1975 he moved to Greensboro, NC, and, in 2002, retired from Gingher Scissors Incorporated. On June 1, 1991 he married the former Shirley McPherson who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are four sons, Jeffrey Koenig (Karen) of Liberty, Christopher Ryan Koenig (Amy) of Liberty, Kevin Bradley Koenig (Maria) of Coleridge and Francis Jerard Koenig (Jenny) of Virginia; a step-daughter, Wendy Michelle Geiger of Greensboro; a sister, Marie Davidow of Connecticut; eleven grandchildren, Lauren, Jamey, Carson, Kiresten, Chase, Jackson, Raegan, Mackenzie, Cole, EvaMarie and Josie; and two great grandchildren, Brennen and Audrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Edward Koenig and a brother, Bernie Koenig.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 7, In the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Ricky Sessoms officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter, 4 N.
