ARCHDALE - Donald Lee Tuggle, 80, died Sunday, January 24, 2021 at his residence.
He was born October 27, 1940 in High Point and was the son of the late Ausbie and Minnie Biby Tuggle. He was a graduate of Trinity High School, Class of 1959, and received his Bachelor in Business degree from High Point College. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and retired from Carolina Steel in Greensboro following 34 years of service in computer systems programming. Don was an active member of Trinity Memorial United Methodist Church where he had been active with the youth and played on the church's softball and basketball teams. He loved the game of golf and enjoyed the time with his golfing buddies and gathering with his classmates regularly. He had also coached little league basketball and baseball teams in the community. Don especially enjoyed attending all of his sons' and grandchildren's sporting events and loved being with his family at the beach.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a sister, Gean Cross.
Don is survived by his wife, Lynne Younts Tuggle, whom he married on August 14, 1965; sons, Greg Tuggle (Deb) and Doug Tuggle (Mandy), both of Archdale; four grandchildren, Krista Tuggle, Jake Tuggle, Ava Tuggle and Jackson Tuggle; two brothers, Charles Tuggle and Ronnie Tuggle, both of Asheboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, funeral service celebrating Don's life will be private. However, the service can be viewed live online at Trinity Memorial United Methodist Church's Facebook page at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 28, 2021.
Don will lie in repose from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale for friends to stop by in order to pay their respects. However, the family will not be present during this time.
Burial will take place at Trinity Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
