HIGH POINT – Donnie Roland Pugh, 75, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at High Point Hospice Home.
Donnie was born November 20, 1942, in High Point and was the son of the late Rev. Worth Roland and Margaret Joyce Pugh. He attended High Point High School and was a member of Highland United Methodist Church where he had taught Sunday school. He was a former police officer with High Point Police Department and retired from Crescent Ford after forty years of service as a salesman. He was a member of Numa F. Reid Masonic Lodge #344, the Greensboro Scottish Rite and was an Oasis Shriner. He was a former volunteer at High Point Cancer Center. Donnie loved baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves, and was a jokester who enjoyed making people laugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by an infant brother, Ronald Worth Pugh and a brother, James Larry Pugh.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Linda Bundy Pugh, whom he married December 17, 1960; a daughter, Amy Pugh Draughn of High Point; two sons, Tracy Scott Pugh and wife, DeLynn, of Jamestown and Matthew Ross Pugh and wife, Amber, of High Point; seven grandchildren, Kristen Draughn Snow and husband, John, of Cincinnati, Stephen Draughn and wife, Katherine, of Raleigh, Stuart Draughn of Charlotte, Aidan Scott Pugh of Jamestown, Matthew Samuel Pugh, Ella Grace Tucker, and Daniel Scott Tucker, all of High Point; two great-grandchildren, Everett Snow and Emaline Snow and one due in May; a sister, Joan Pugh Davis and her husband, Donald, of Thomasville; and two brothers, Robert Hampton “Corky” Pugh and wife, Debra, of Trinity and Michael Pugh and wife, Donna, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
Memorial service celebrating Donnie’s life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Highland United Methodist Church with Rev. Wendy Barnes and Rev. Harold Shives officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, November 9, 2018, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.
