HIGH POINT- Doris Louise Cecil, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 5, 2022.
She was born on December 15, 1927 in Davidson County, a daughter of the late Ray and Sadie Crotts Foster. A resident of this area all her life, she owned and operated Korner Kitchen for many years and was a lifetime faithful member of Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church. She was a hard worker and she loved taking care of people. It was evident in her generosity and care. She would invite homeless people to her restaurant for a warm cup of coffee or a plate of food. Doris was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan and enjoyed getting together with her family every year at their favorite Myrtle Beach campground. She will be remembered as a strong Christian woman who was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents preceding her in death were her husband, Dolan Cecil, Sr.; a son, Mark Cecil; four sisters, Mary Couples, Hilda Dunlap, Kathleen Hinkle and Bea Hartman; her brothers, Raymond Foster, George Foster, Bill Foster and Edgar Foster.
She is survived by her children; Ray Jordan and his wife, Linda, Sid Jordan, Robin Harrill and her husband, Jim, Dolan “Gus” Cecil, Jr. and Ted Cecil; her sisters, Carol Webb and her husband, Bruce, Betty Palmer and Patricia “Cookie” Furr and her husband, Larry. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dane, Nicholas, Meredith, Zachary, Abby and Fayth; her great grandchildren, Alexis, Olivia, Isabella, Emersyn, Jaden, Grayson, Kiley and Silas and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held on Thursday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, with Reverend Dane Jordan officiating. The committal service will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Thursday morning, May 19 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
