HIGH POINT – Doris Faircloth Henley, 88, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born December 11, 1928, in Clinton, NC, to Eva Kate Robinson Faircloth and Alton Wayland Faircloth.  Doris received her undergraduate and Masters degrees in Elementary Education from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.  She moved to High Point in 1959 to accept a teaching position and taught for thirteen years.  In 1960 Doris married High Point native, A. Boyden Henley, Jr. 

Doris was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Aldersgate-Miller Memorial class.  She was a member of the mid-week study club, was a sustainer in the Junior League of High Point, and was a member of the High Point Country Club.  She was also very active in several other social groups.

Doris was known for her happy, energetic disposition and her selfless giving.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at home and at Litchfield Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Elizabeth Ewing, and her brother, Ben Faircloth.

She is survived by three children, A.B. Henley and his wife, Grace, of High Point, Sally L. Henley and Elizabeth K. Henley, both of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Bo and Laney Henley; a brother, Bobby Faircloth of Clinton; two sisters, Jane Robinson of Clinton and Julie Wells and her husband Rev. Ray Wells of Sims; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, February 19, 2017, in the Asbury Room of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

Funeral service celebrating Doris’ life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 20, 2017, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. J. Alexander “Al” Ward, Jr. and the Rev. Ray Wells officiating.  Entombment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum.
