Dorothy Barnette Hayes

Dorothy Barnette Hayes went to be with her Lord and Savior May 27th. 2022.
Dorothy was born October 11, 1921 in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband Rayford Hayes and parents Sarah Annie Barnette and Lonzo Barnette. She was also proceeded in death by her sisters Ocie Mae Hayes and Lois Poole, brothers Hugh and Cecil Barnette.

Dorothy is a long time resident of High Point, N.C. She worked many years as a seamstress, sewing custom drapes for the furniture market. She was a faithful member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church for over 65years. She was a loving, humble gracious mamma and mawmaw. Everyone who met her loved her and she will truly be missed. She loved gardening, spending time with her family and spending time with her grand dog Papi. 

Mrs. Hayes is survived by five children Janis Williams and husband Mike, Alvin Hayes and wife Sherry, Judy Varner and late husband Donnie, Marcia Varner and husband Wayne, Tim Hayes and wife Missy.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren along with a great great grandchild. 

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Tuesday, May 31st at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church,    Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
