ARCHDALE-Dorothy Tysinger Ivey, 95, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 28, 2020.
She was born on May 11, 1925 in Guilford County, to the late Marvin and Effie Johnson Tysinger. A resident of this area all her life, she was a proud graduate of Allen Jay High School, class of 1942, and was a member of First Wesleyan Church of High Point, and a former Girl Scout Leader. Dorothy enjoyed going to the beach, and spending time with her family. She loved her Lord, her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and her great- great grandchildren, and she will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Ed Ivey; a son, Terry Lamb; a daughter, Barbara Helton; a great grandson, Dakota Watkins; her sisters, Ruth Jackson and Lucille Vestal and her brothers, John Tysinger, James Tysinger and Richard Tysinger.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Huggins and her husband, Jim, and Renee Kirkman; her granddaughters, Tracie Bolante and her husband, Ryan, Amanda Miller and her husband, Chris; 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday morning, July 3, at 11 o’clock, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Reverend Mark Hall officiating. The committal service will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Thursday evening, July 2, from 6 until 8 o’clock, at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff of Stay Well Senior Care in Asheboro and Autumn Care in Biscoe, for the love and attention given to Dorothy while she was in their care.
