HIGH POINT – Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth Hines Welch, age 84, passed away peacefully Monday, June 22, 2020, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro following a period of declining health.
She was born October 5, 1935, in Guilford County and was the daughter of the late Maskey Orline and Mary Kanoy Hines. She was retired from Crown Foam Products where she served as office manager for many years. She was a member of Gospel Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowshipping with her close friends. She was a devoted wife and mother and a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Nealison Welch; and brothers, Arnold Hines and Reitzel Hines.
Dorothy is survived by daughter, Janice Dawn Swartzbaugh (John) of Lexington; son, Michael Nealison Welch (Angie) of High Point; seven grandchildren, Kristina Bracken (Thomas), Chad Liptrap (Jessica), Sara Liptrap, Mason Anthony (Antoine), Zachary Welch, Shelby Welch, and Landis Welch; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Hines (Louise) and Wade Hines (Sylvia), both of High Point; sister-in-law, Margie Hines of Archdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside service celebrating Dot’s life will be held at Ebenezer Memorial Chapel Cemetery in Archdale.
