Ed Martin

Mr. Ed Martin, 84, resident of High Point, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020.

He was born November 24, 1935 in Charlotte, NC, a son to the late Clyde and Louise Martin.  Ed was a graduate of High Point High School and later N.C. State University.  He worked thirty-five years with Guardsman Products until retiring in 1994 at the age of 59, when he started enjoying many years of retirement.  He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a past deacon and volunteered with Mobile Meals and Open Door Ministries.  He also was a Mason and a Shriner.

Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Kathy Martin of the home; a daughter, Pamela Burgess and her children Jefferson and Morgan; a daughter, Ginny Fleming (Mike) and her children Caroline Merrill (Cameron) and Hallie Farrell (Kevin); and a son, Eddie Martin (Melinda) and his children Marlee and Trip.  In addition, he is survived by six great grandchildren, Harper, Ellie, Max, Lucy, Emmett and Isabelle; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Martin and Betty Martin.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Don, Charlie, Harold and Jim.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, 405 N. Main St. High Point, N.C. 27260 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, N.C. 27262.
