Edith Ernestine (Haynes) Ayers

Mrs. Edith Ernestine Haynes Ayers, 91, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Westchester Manor.

Born May 30, 1927, in Cana, VA, Ernestine was the daughter of the late David and Lucy Gwynn Haynes. In addition to his parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Harvey Ayers, in 1987, and three siblings, Opal McMillan, Virginia McMillan, and Junior Haynes. Ernestine was of the Baptist faith and had worked in the textiles and furniture industries. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, doggies, and dancing to country music. She loved her family most of all, and cherished each moment spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ernestine is survived by four children, Gary Ayers, Kathy Kiser, Sheila Porter and husband, Glenn, and Penny Webb and husband, Randy, eight grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Cana, VA, officiated by Rev. Roy Quesenberry.
