Edward "Sandy" Emerson Mendenhall, III

Edward Emerson “Sandy”  Mendenhall, III , of High Point died Friday June 29, 2018 at High Point Regional Hospital.  Born September 27, 1937 he is a son of the late Edward Emerson Mendenhall, Jr. and Annie Robbins Mendenhall.  He is a graduate of High Point High School and the University of North  Carolina at Chapel Hill.  In addition to his parents, Sandy was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Mendenhall Braman.

Sandy was self-employed as a real estate appraiser and was very active in the community; he was instrumental in bringing soccer to High Point Central High School, served on the board of directors of the High Point Jaycees, High Point Chamber of Commerce, Emerywood Country Club and the High Point Board of Realtors.  He received the NC Young Realtor of the Year award.  Sandy was a co-founder of the Henredon LPGA Golf Tournament.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Judith  “Judy”  Peterson  Mendenhall and children:  Elizabeth Middleton ( Reynold), Martha Mendenhall, Mary Catherine Jones ( Rick), Edward Peterson “Pete” Mendenhall and John Emerson Mendenhall.  Also surviving are grandchildren:  Benjamen Starkweather  (Ariel), Annie Starkweather, Emerson Jones, Paige Mendenhall, Chloe Mendenhall, Emma Grace Mendenhall, and great grandson  Rhodri Mendenhall-Codaro

 The family will greet friends at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive,  High Point, Saturday July 7th from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.  Funeral  services will be private.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the staff in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit at High Point Regional Hospital.
