Eleanor (Wilson) Peace

Mrs. Eleanor Wilson Peace, 82, resident of Thomasville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Eleanor was born January 6, 1935, a daughter to the late Dora and Charlie Wilson.  Her working years were spent on her family’s tobacco farm and also Hickory Springs.  She enjoyed helping others, often baking cherry cheesecakes for church functions, the sick and the elderly.  Eleanor faithfully attended Oak Hill Friends Meeting for 60 years until no longer physically able.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Ritzle; and several brothers and sisters.                    

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Sloan (Phillip) of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Jason Sloan (Kristen Hammed) of Thomasville, Jon Sloan (Eileen) of High Point and Cheryl Sloan Graeub (Charlie) of High Point; four great grandchildren, Levi Sloan, James Sloan, Autumn Graeub and Emma Sloan; one sister, Betty Wilson Lamb of Thomasville; a special brother-in-law, Bernie Shelar of High Point; and three special nieces,  Judy Bodenheimer, Vickie Hepler and Mary Green.                                                

A celebration of her life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Pastor John Sides officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Oak Hill Friends Meeting, 2001 Westchester Dr. High Point, N.C., 27262.
