ARCHDALE- Elizabeth Holland Folwell, 88, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.
She was born on September 13, 1930 in Randolph County, to the late L.V. and Virginia Walker Holland. A resident of this area all her life, she was a long time member of Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church, where she helped with the Pre School class, was a member of the former Berean class, and most recently, was attending the Golden Rule class. Elizabeth enjoyed reading, traveling with Holiday tours, and gardening; especially in her flowers. She had a compassionate and caring spirit and enjoyed sending cards and letters to family, friends and church members, to encourage and lift them up. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and will be missed dearly. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, William “Bill” Folwell; a sister, Ruth Haskew; 3 brothers, J.D. Holland, Floyd Holland, and Branson Holland.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Farshing, Myrtle Hardin (C.E.), Christine Cline (Steve), Paula Linthicum (Bill), and Tim Folwell (Phyllis); her brothers, Samuel Holland (Frances); Mack Holland, and Charles Holland (Donna); 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held on Saturday, morning, July 6, at 11 o’clock, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Pastor James M. Capps officiating. The committal service will follow in Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Friday evening, July 5, from 6 until 8, at the funeral home.
