Ellen Sue Gibson Barker, 64, died Monday, January 13, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
She was born December 29, 1955, in High Point and was the daughter of the late Eva Ellen Morgan Gibson and Frank Gibson, Sr. She was a member of Fairfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling. Prior to her disability retirement, she was a Claims Watch Manager with Old Dominion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Gibson, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey “Jeff” Lee Barker, whom she married on August 5, 1978; son, Jeremy Lee Baker of Winston-Salem; granddaughter, Alana Talton; two sisters, Nora Lee Campbell of Asheboro and Janie Jones (Donald) of Warrenton, Virginia; brother, Ralph Morgan Gibson (Beverly) of High Point; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service celebrating Ellen’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 17, 2020, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Oliver Helsabeck officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
