Elsie Acevedo, age 93, of High Point, NC passed peacefully on June 13, 2019.
Elsie was born on February 20, 1926 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to the late Nicolas and Alejandra Acevedo. Elsie grew up and married in New York City. She was a widow and is survived by her four children and their spouses: Daniel and Camille Varona of Martinsville, W.Va.; Carol and Ron Mace of High Point, NC; Virginia and Charles Russnok of Albrightsville, PA; and Michael Del Rio of Brooklyn, NY. Elsie was the proud grandmother of David, Christopher and Julia Varona, as well as her three great-grandchildren Theo, Eli and Sam Varona.
Elsie was a skilled seamstress and worked various jobs throughout her life, making children's stuffed toys and custom making many outfits for her daughters. Besides sewing, she loved to knit and crochet. Elsie enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She also enjoyed long walks, days at Coney Island beach, and visiting botanical gardens, parks, zoos and museums.
Elsie resided at Graybrier Nursing Home in Archdale, NC with many friends and staff for whom she always had a warm smile and often displayed her special wink. Her family wishes to thank you for the care, friendship and love you gave her. Warm thanks as well to Hospice of Randolph County for their compassionate care.
Now, Elsie rests in peaceful sleep. Her memories we will always keep.
