Mrs. Elsie Smith Bentley, 91, formerly of Westchester Harbour, died August 12, 2019 at Hospice Home at High Point.
Mrs. Bentley was born September 27, 1927 in Guilford County, a daughter to the late Fletcher and Virgie Lineberry Smith. A resident of this area all her life, she attended Nathaniel Green High School and later retired from Hoover Universal. She also was a member of Green St. Baptist Church. On December 24, 1954 she married Hugh Jasper Bentley who preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Hugh Timothy Bentley; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Katie Byrd; and four brothers, J.F., Jack, Ernest and Fred Smith.
Surviving is a daughter, Janice Bentley Kincaid and husband Bruce of Archdale; a sister, Shirley Bentley and husband Earl of Burlington; a brother, Harvey Smith of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Mark Bentley and wife Wendy of Thomasville, Kristie McCabe and husband Bob of Jamestown, KY and Roger Bentley of Archdale; a daughter-in-law, Robin Bentley of Archdale; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Frank Hensley officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, N.C., 27262.
