On Sunday, April 7, 2019 Emily Thompson Ayscue, peacefully left her earthly life to go live with her heavenly father.
Emily was born on January 17, 1941 in High Point to Clarence B. Thompson and Mattie Murdock Thompson. She attended High Point School. On June 27, 1959 she married Ernest Harold Ayscue.
Emily worked in the office of Burlington Industries; High Point Fabrics & Hillcrest Plant for 20 years in High Point. A previous member at Westchester Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, WMU Director and all facets of missions for Youth with emphasis on Seniors and Shut-ins. She volunteered in other numerous activities such as Mobile Meals. After moving to Chapel Hill, NC she worked for Fonville Morisey Real Estate in Durham, NC and volunteered for the Duke Children’s Classic. Most recently living in Graham, NC she was a member of First Baptist Church of Alamance. She enjoyed Traveling, playing golf and was a member of several LGA’s.
A loving wife of 60 years (in June) she was also a loving mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence, mother, Mattie and brothers Harold, Bill (Rita), Roland, R.D. and Kermit (Lillie), brother- in-law, Lloyd McCandless and sister-in-law, Christene Thompson.
She is survived by her husband Ernest Harold Ayscue, daughters Kim Ayscue Nance (Tommy) of Thomasville, NC and Dana Ayscue Bird (William) of Greensboro, NC grandchildren Matthew Nance, Mattie and Aidan Bird, sister, Betty Thompson McCandless of Madison, NC, brother Ronnie Thompson (Phyllis) of High Point, NC, sisters-in-law Hilda Thompson of Greensboro, NC and Jennie Thompson of Myrtle Beach, SC and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 10th at 2:00 PM at Cumby Family Funeral Service High Point Chapel with visitation preceding at 12:30. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.
