ARCHDALE- Emma Jean Cox, 81, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
She was born on May 26, 1939 in High Point, a daughter of the late Robert and Ella Allred Glidewell. A resident of this area all her life, she worked for Henredon Furniture and retired after 30 plus years of service. She was a member of Wellspring Community Church in Thomasville. Emma Jean loved reading, puzzles, and the beach. She also loved going on camping trips and to High Rock Lake, with her late husband of 65 years, Jimmy. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, and husband, preceding her in death was a son, Tony Cox and 2 sisters, Anne and Sheila.
She is survived by her sons, David Cox and his wife, Amy, Monty Cox and his wife, Sherri; her sisters, Kathy Hall and Betty Glidewell; her brother, Wayne Glidewell; her daughter in-law, Lori Cox. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Stephanie and her husband, Michael, Stacy, Marty, Joshua and his wife, Alex, Justin, and Nathaniel; her great grandchildren, Mikey and his wife, Katie, Kalieb and Kristin; her great- great grandchildren, Jazmyn, Ariel, Landon, Sophie and Hannah.
A service to celebrate Emma Jean’s life will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 2, at 1 o’clock, at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Elder Dean Kennedy and Reverend Joel Smith, officiating. The committal service will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
