Mr. Ernest “ERay” Burleson, 90, resident of High Point, died October 4, 2019 at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.
He was born April 16, 1929 in Mitchell County, a son to the late Arl L. and Annie Riddle Burleson. He was a graduate of High Point College, where he was a member of the football team, and later joined the U.S. Air Force, serving in Arizona. As a resident of this area most of his life, he was a member of Green St. Baptist Church and retired from both 3M Company and K-Mart. His love and passion, however, was serving with the High Point Police Reserves and Crimestoppers. On June 5, 1951 he married the former Rita Maxie Hall who preceded him in death on July 2, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Sparks.
Surviving are two daughters, Pam Bradberry and husband Rick and Danita Morris and husband Larry all of High Point; three grandchildren, Derek Bradberry, Tyler Morris and Meredith Saintsing and husband Jared; and two great grandchildren, Dawson Saintsing and Nyrobi Bradberry.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the funeral home. A private inurnment will be held at Floral Garden Park Cemetery Columbarium.
