Jamestown - Francis Logan Porter III passed away at home Thursday, July 19, 2018. He was 78 years old.
Logan was born in High Point, NC on April 25, 1940 to Sara Blackwell and Francis Logan Porter Jr. A graduate of McCallie School and High Point College, Logan worked in the emerging computer industry for a variety of organizations including the NSA, NASA and Raytheon. Highly entrepreneurial, Logan founded Southern Pine Needles in 1991.
Logan loved family. His children Anna and Logan were his pride and joy. He loved being surrounded by his bevy of grandchildren and especially enjoyed spending time with them on the water - “Granpapa” was always up for jet skiing or boating on the lake or at the beach.
Logan is survived by his beloved wife Doris Winslow Porter with whom he recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his son Francis Logan Porter, IV (Eloise) of Greensboro, NC and his daughter Anna Porter Kaijser Bots (Jeroen) of Davidson, NC; nine grandchildren: Mary Mac, Frances, Logan and Ruth Porter; Lucas, Lex, Lars, Anneliese and Avelynne Kaijser Bots; three sisters in law Bobbie Hill (Donald), Sylvia Morgan, Sheila Clodfelter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, July 22 at Jamestown Presbyterian Church and a reception in the Fellowship Hall immediately following. A private graveside service will be held later in the day.
