NEW LONDON, NC – Franklin Ray Rogers, 85, died Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was born January 9, 1933, in Mullins, SC, and was the son of the late David Bonnie and Claudia Baxley Rogers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Royal Development Company in High Point. Franklin was a member of Chandler’s Grove United Methodist Church in Badin Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Pearl Prevette Rogers; and seven brothers and sisters, Gladys Leona Strickland, Bonnie Ralph Rogers, Gary Oliver Rogers, Margaret Ann Rogers, John Paul Rogers, Sam Grady Rogers, and Elbert Rogers.
Franklin is survived by five children, Donald Rogers and wife, Teresa, of Trinity, Gloria Ingram and husband, Mike, of Sophia, Teresa Bent of New London, Jackie Fields and husband, Wayne, of Randleman, and David Rogers and wife, Crystal, of Archdale; one sister, Willodean Grant-McNeill of Badin Lake; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service celebrating Franklin’s life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2018, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Steve Phillipi and Rev. Jason Prevette officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensboro.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
