HIGH POINT- G. Wesley Johnson, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 7, 2018.
He was born on June 7, 1930 in Guilford County; Wesley was the son of the late Roy and Velna Reddick Johnson.
He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Germany during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of G. Wesley Johnson Grading for over 40 years. Wesley was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church since 1994, where he was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School class. He was a former member of Reavis Memorial Baptist Church, (now known as Crossover Community Church), where he and his wife served as youth leaders for many years. He was preceded in death almost a year ago by his precious wife of 66 years, Juanita I. Johnson.
He is survived by his sons, W. Keith Johnson and his wife, Donna, Kevan L. Johnson and his wife, Donna; his grandchildren, Julie Ann Williard and her husband, Chris, W. Brent Johnson and his wife, Patti, Jodi Sourwine and her husband, Brad, Montanna Gross and her husband, Josh; his great-grandchildren, Jessica, Carrie, Sara, Ella, Ava, Ryder, Asher, and the soon arrival of Memphis; his sister, Magdalene Farlow, and his brother in-law, Richard Ingram and his wife, Katherine.
Wesley was the patriarch of his family and loved spending time with them. He was known as a friend of people. Wesley’s humor, love, and generosity to his family, friends, and community will be greatly cherished and missed.
A service to celebrate Wesley’s life will be held on Tuesday afternoon, July 10th, at 2 o’clock, at Crossover Community Church on Baker road, with Reverend Daniel Pittman II, officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Friends Meeting Cemetery, with Military Honors accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard. His family will receive friends on Monday evening, July 9th, from 6 until 8 o’clock, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
