Garrett Gaston Whitley

Mr. Garrett Gaston “Whit” Whitley, 95, of High Point, passed away on March 13th, 2023 at High Point Medical Center.

Mr. Whitley was born on April 14th, 1927 in Albemarle, North Carolina to the late Walter Hervey and Emily Frances Furr Whitley. He was a United States Veteran, having served in World War II and was a retired barber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Willie Mary B. Whitley; daughter, Cynthia Gladden and nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Whitley of Greensboro; Becky Whitley Williams of High Point; four grandchildren, Brandy Gladden Grady; Cary Gladden Griggs; Melissa Williams Brabble and husband, Ed; Jason Williams and wife, Kayla; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023 at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, North Carolina 27262. Bishop Paul Francis Lanier will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
