On March 11, Gary, 73, beloved Dad, PeePaw, and Great PeePaw passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with family by his side.
Gary was born and lived most of his life in Randolph County to Ernest and Verta Lee Hill who precedes him in death. He married the love of his life, Reba Wilson Hill at the early age of 16. They were together for 55 years before her death in June of 2017. Missing her was a daily chore, but now he’s with her again.
Gary was a retired preacher and served as pastor at Solid Rock Baptist Church and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church both in Randleman, NC. Previously, he also worked as a volunteer, and then full time as a Captain with Guil-Rand Fire Department. He was a master furniture builder and worked for many companies in High Point. Gary is well known for his love of fishing, horses, hunting and watching his kids and grandchildren play sports. He never met a stranger and would smile and talk to anyone he met. He loved the Lord and prayed daily for all who have not yet taken him as their personal savior.
Gary was blessed with a wonderful family including his two daughters Kim Marley and husband Joey of Morganton, Deanene Deaton and husband Greg, of Blanch. Two brothers, Dwight Hill and wife Cheryl of Sophia, Charlie Hill and wife Carol of Hillsville. Five grandchildren, Bradley Felts (preceded in death 2017), and wife Chrystle, Jason Marley and wife JoBeth, Amanda Tucker and husband Jess, Russell Deaton and wife Meredith Schwane, Heather Edwards and husband Ryan. Seven great grandchildren, Zachary, Bryson, Rebakah, Jackson, Jake, Rhodes, John, and two more on the way.
The family will receive family and friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 at Cumby Funeral Services in Archdale, NC.
A memorial service honoring Gary’s love for life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Services in Archdale, NC with the Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Entombment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro, NC.
