Gary Reece White Sr.

Mr. Gary Reece White Sr., 76, resident of Archdale, died February 18, 2020 at home with his wife Pat and their family by his side.

Gary was born May 28, 1943 in Guilford County, a son to the late Earl Reece and Mary Alice Shipton White.  He was blessed to never live more than ten minutes from his birth place and he spent his career in development and construction.  Farming was his true passion, however, and he loved being in the field with his crops and equipment.  He also loved southern gospel music and was a member of Hope Baptist Church.  In 1963, he married the former Patricia “Pat” Hill who survives of the residence.  Together, they shared a “model” marriage and were rarely seen apart, even in photos!

Also surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Swadener and husband Chris of Manassas, Virginia and Maria Farlow and husband Paul of Sophia; two sons, Reece White Jr. and wife Dawn of Archdale and Brooks White and wife Christi of Sophia; a sister, Frann White of High Point; a brother, Logan White and wife Martha of Myrtle Beach; nine grandchildren, Seth Farlow and wife Megan, Allison Thomas and husband Drew, Luke Swadener, Eli Swadener, Noah Swadener and wife Cabell, Elizabeth Mathai and husband Tyler, Payton White, Brok White and Tabor White; and two great grandchildren, Abram and Levi Thomas.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Marlboro Friends Meeting in Sophia with Pastor Steve McSwain and Pastor Ricky Sessoms officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Family Life Center at the meeting.  Honorary pallbearers are Ray Luther, John Sides, Henry Perry, Terry Linthicum, Bob Medford, Mike Wall, Ricky Sessoms and Ben Hurley.  These men are pastors and ministers who were very important in Gary’s life.   Memorials may be directed to the building fund at Hope Baptist Church, 4872 Old Edgar Rd. Sophia, N.C. 27350.
