Mr. George Davis Beaston IV, 92, resident of Westchester Manor, died June 6, 2018 at Hospice Home at High Point.
Mr. Beaston was born January 6, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, a son to George H. and Jean Hewitt Beaston. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked as a newspaper photographer in Philadelphia and later worked with Ansco Film in Binghamton, NY. He moved to this area in 1961, where he worked for Alderman Studios and eventually began his own audio/video company, Communicon. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in High Point and was instrumental in the technical development of the church’s television ministry. He also was active with Boy Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels, Crimestoppers and was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army. On March 12, 1949 he married the former Dorothy Daly who survives of High Point. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ed Wheeless in 2013.
Also surviving is a daughter, Carol Wheeless of High Point; two sons, George Davis Beaston V and wife Karen of High Point and Geoffrey Douglas Beaston and wife Lisa of High Point; six grandchildren, Sydney Cavanaugh and husband John, George Davis Beaston VI and wife Sarah, Molly Hix and husband Justin, Betsy Martin and husband Justin, Jordan Hedrick and husband Thomas and Carty Cristiano and husband Joey; and nine great grandchildren, Cooper, Cole, George, Ryland, Daly, Fletcher, Jett, Brooks and Lawson.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Debra Swing and Dr. Chris Fitzgerald officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service in the Epworth Room at the church. A private inurnment will precede the service in the church columbarium.
