Gladys Severt Dillard

HIGH POINT- Gladys Severt Dillard, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

She was born on February 9, 1927 in Mercer County, WVA, to the late Hilt and Elizabeth Mae Severt. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a retired employee of Archdale Manufacturing, and was a member of Garrell Street Baptist Church. Gladys enjoyed fishing, working in her flower and vegetable garden, and traveling. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.  Her true love and passion was spending time with her family; whether she was planning a birthday party or cooking a meal for them. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Frank Dillard and 2 brothers, Archie and Worth Severt.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Dillard, and John Dillard (Cindy); her sisters, Mary Butler, Grace Miller, Bessie Morgan, Betty Dawson, and Dot Beach; her brother, Don Severt; her grandchildren, Johnnie Morris (Mike), Rhiannon Langan (Bryan), Brandi Collins (Jeremy), Krista Brooks (Brett), Matthew Dillard (Kayla Britton) and Jess Dillard;  her great grandchildren,  Dalton Morris, Dylan Morris, Davis Morris, Cooper Langan, Keely Langan, Isley Collins, and Delaney Brooks, along with a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Gladys’ life will be held on Friday morning, April 12, at 11 o’clock, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Reverend Dr. Rodney Otwell officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends Friday morning, from 9:45 until 10:45, at the funeral home.
