Grover Glenn Ladd Jr.

August 6, 1939 ~ December 3, 2020 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Tribute

Mr. Grover Glenn Ladd Jr., 81, resident of Trinity, died December 3, 2020 at High Point Medical Center.

He was born in High Point, NC, on August 6, 1939, a son to the late Grover Ladd Sr. and Naomi Yow Ladd.  He was reared in Forsyth County and attended Forsyth public schools before graduating from High Point College in 1961.  Later, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965 and following his service was employed at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a field sales representative from 1965-1970.  Afterwards, he joined J.C. Penny working in retail sales, and lastly, worked as a commercial sales representative with Piedmont Natural Gas from 1980 until his retirement.  Grover was a charter member of the High Point Regional Heating and Air Conditioning contractors association, a past president of the Randolph County Economic Development, a past president of the Archdale-Trinity Chamber of Commerce, and an active member of the Rotary Club of Archdale-Trinity.  He also volunteered for the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, the High Point Chamber of Commerce, and the Thomasville Chamber of Commerce.

Grover was a genuine “people” person who loved telling his corny jokes and being quizzed by others to display his trivia knowledge.  He also loved reading, history and traveling throughout the south.  More than anything else, he loved spending time with his family, especially at summer vacations and attending Merlefest with his daughter in North Wilkesboro.  He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

Surviving is his wife, Alice Matoka Ladd; daughter, Tammy Lynn Ladd Parks; son-in-law, Richard Parks; daughter, Melody R. Mintz; son-in-law, Herb Curkin; sister, Anna Ruth Ladd Lineberry; brother-in-law, Robert Lineberry; and grandson, Marcus Mintz.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Pastor Scott Wagoner officiating.  Memorials may be directed to Open Door Ministries at 400 N. Centennial St. High Point, NC, 27262.
