Harold Edward Spencer, 83, entered into glory to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from High Point Regional Hospital.
Harold was born January 14, 1935 in Guilford County to the late Orville Edward Spencer and Addie Lee McCallister Spencer.
Harold was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was very much a family man and enjoyed spending time with those he loved. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in High Point but in later years was attending Covenant Church United Methodist. He was a person of strong faith.
He was a long-time employee of Mickey Printing/The Alderman Company/Hickory Printing for 45 years and after retiring from there he worked another 12 years with Marsh Cabinets. He enjoyed golfing and coached Little League baseball and football for over 20 years. He was very much a craftsman and enjoyed building projects. After retirement Harold and Joanne moved to North Myrtle Beach and enjoyed the “beach life”.
Those who will cherish Harold’s memories are his wife of 61 years, Joanne Bean Spencer, sons; David Spencer and wife, Gina of Thomasville, Derek Spencer and wife, Jessica of High Point, daughter; Dawn Spencer Kearns and husband, Garry of High Point; grandchildren, Maghan Spencer, Troy Spencer, Haley Kearns Turman and husband, Daniel, Kaitlyn Kearns Summers and husband, Victor, Spencer Kearns, Chase Spencer, Addison Spencer; great-grandchild, Hazel Ann Turman.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00pm on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Covenant Church United Methodist, 1526 Skeet Club Road in High Point. The Reverend Darren Alexander and Reverend Michelle Foster-Beckerleg will be officiating and burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
